How would you describe your firm’s culture in 3 words?
Hardworking, collaborative, fun.
What is one question you think candidates should be prepared to answer in an interview?
Why do you want to work in Vancouver?
Why do you want to pursue a career in a big firm?
What are your areas of interest?
Does your firm offer a rotation? If so, what does it look like for summer students and articling students?
Our summer students have the opportunity to work in a variety of practice areas, without formal rotations. We also offer summer students the unique opportunity to go on a 4-week secondment to another Canadian Fasken office, or in-house with local clients.
Our articled students complete three rotations (Litigation, Business, Labour, Employment & Human Rights) as well as a junioring rotation where they spend approximately three months in an area of their choosing.
What is one piece of advice you would give a law student about choosing a practice area?
Get firsthand experience in as many different practice areas as you can, and speak with junior lawyers in each group to get a sense of what the day-to-day benefits and challenges of different areas of law are. Keep an open mind as what you have learned in law school may be different in practice. With a full-service firm like Fasken, the opportunities are endless!
